On-Campus Cessation Programs
Valencia, in partnership with the Quit Smoking Now program, provides free on-campus tobacco treatment programs for students, employees and members of the community who wish to quit smoking. Offered by the Florida AHEC Network, Quit Smoking Now provides support, guidance and resources to help you become tobacco free. Curriculum for the program is developed by ex-smokers for those who want to become ex-smokers themselves. The five week program usually includes six sessions.

Off-Campus Cessation Programs
There are a number of online and off-campus resources available to assist those interested in becoming tobacco free. These programs are at no cost to the smoker and many offer a variety of program formats to fit each individual’s needs.
The EX Plan is a free, interactive quit smoking program that helps smokers re-learn their life without cigarettes. Before they actually stop smoking, the program shows smokers how to deal with the very things that trip up so many people when they try to quit smoking.
Smokefree.gov is a free online service that allows smokers to choose the help that best fits their needs. Immediate assistance is available including:
- A step-by-step quit smoking guide
- Information about a wide range of topics related to smoking and quitting
- An interactive U.S. map highlighting smoking information in your state
- LiveHelp, National Cancer Institute’s instant messaging service
- National Cancer Institute’s telephone quitline, 1-877-44U-QUIT
- Local and state telephone quitlines, 1-800-QUIT-NOW
- Publications to download, print or order
Tobacco Free Florida offers a number of free resources to help make smokers quit. These services are at no cost to the smoker, to anyone living in Florida who is ready to make a quit attempt.
- Phone: Call the toll-free Florida Quitline at 1-877-U-CAN-NOW or 1-877-822-6669 to speak with a Quit Coach who will help assess the user’s addiction and create a personalized quit plan.
- Online: Enroll in online counseling with the Florida Quitline, where each user can create a personalized, web-based quit plan. Visit www.quitnow.net/florida to enroll.
